Get hold of what's missing with the Task list

Tired of long emails about things missing from the books? Try Siffer's brilliant Task list instead!

Getting the right documentation in place may not be the most fun job, but it is definitely one of the most important steps in producing a complete set of accounts. For annual clients, this is often the very task that decides whether the year-end close runs smoothly or turns into a struggle. We’ve therefore rethought this constant source of frustration and launched something we hope will make accounting season a little less demanding for both accountants and clients.

How the Task list works

When a transaction is missing documentation, you can mark it and select “Send to task list”. A web page is then generated where everyone involved can easily upload what’s missing — without having to log in or remember a password. They simply receive a link by email that takes them straight to the upload page. Is something missing that isn’t linked to a transaction, for example an annual statement? Then you can create an “empty” transaction and write what’s missing in the description field. Tasks are automatically removed from the list once the transactions are approved in Siffer.

Why it makes a difference:

  • Time-saving: It reduces administrative time for both accountants and clients. No more time wasted hunting through emails for that one receipt.

  • Simple and professional: It makes it easy for the client to help you. The client gets a precise, always up-to-date overview of what’s missing.

  • No login required: The fact that link recipients can upload documents without logging in removes a major barrier. It’s easier for everyone involved.

  • Secure and GDPR-friendly: Siffer ensures the files are transferred safely, with none of the GDPR headaches that come with email. The task list is of course encrypted and only accessible to whoever has the link to the page.

  • Always available: You can upload documents wherever you are, as long as you have access to a phone or PC.

  • Better planning: On the company overview, you can see how many tasks have been completed for each company, which makes it easier to plan your day.

Summary

With the introduction of the Task list, Siffer shows that listening to user needs and shipping practical solutions is the key to improving the accounting industry. It’s not just about big, revolutionary changes — it’s also about the small adjustments that make daily life easier. For accountants and business owners looking for ways to streamline their workflow, this new feature could be a step in the right direction.
